Established in 1998, Hunt Engineering has been providing mechanical, plumbing, electrical and low voltage systems consulting engineering for over 15 years. With an experienced staff of engineers, designers and project managers, we have an excellent combination of skills and experience to maintain personalized service for our clients. Hunt Engineering provides engineering services for most types of buildings from educational to institutional, data centers to warehouses, boarding homes to hospitals and retail to office. We have extensive experience on projects ranging from one-room renovations to facilities over 250,000 s.f. in size and with project values ranging from several thousand to over 15 million dollars.

Overview of Key Staff

Licensed as a professional engineer for electrical & mechanical and certified as a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), John Hunt provides a well-rounded view of what it takes to engineer a building from the ground up. Joining him, our project managers and principle designers each have over 25 years of experience. David Heylen (mechanical designer, project manager) has over 25 years of experience: 15 years in heavy industry process piping design prior to his 10 years of experience with Hunt Engineering. Chris Hillman (mechanical designer, project manager), licensed as a mechanical contractor, has over 25 years of field experience with significant beverage process piping design experience. Hunt Engineering also has a LEED certified designer on staff.

JOHN HUNT / Mechanical and Electrical Engineering / Principal in Charge

President and Chief of Engineering of Hunt Engineering for the past 15 years, John has the overall working knowledge of design and construction administration to successfully guide projects through the design and construction process. He has extensive experience in electrical and mechanical engineering and design for a wide range of commercial and institutional clients. He has extensive experience in facilities that operate on a 24/7 basis. John’s large breadth of knowledge in this area facilitates the coordination and design of the many different systems involved in these buildings. Mr. Hunt is unique in that he is a registered Electrical and Mechanical Engineer as well as being RCDD-certified.

DAVID HEYLEN / Project Manager and Senior Designer

David Heylen has over 25 years of experience serving as a mechanical designer and project manager. His design experience includes building HVAC and plumbing systems as well as significant experience in heavy industrial process piping. He has designed systems for a wide range of facilities including: data centers, restaurants, schools, health care, animal shelters, office buildings, apartment buildings, churches, pulp & paper mills and metals reprocessing plants. David has worked on projects for a variety of clients including King County, Highline School District, Seattle Children’s Hospital, Port of Seattle (SeaTac Airport), Verizon, T-Mobile as well as industrial clients such as Weyerhaeuser and Boise Cascade.

PATRICK YOUNGER / Designer and Lead Drafter

Mr. Younger is highly experienced in producing quality construction documents. Patrick’s experience in design, as well as production, results in documents that are created with a clear understanding of what information is needed to be conveyed on the drawings. Prior to Patrick’s 17 years experience in design and CAD work, he was involved in plumbing and residential construction. With this experience he is very affective in the design of light commercial projects.

Patrick is highly experienced in managing the many details required in the production of quality engineered documents. In addition to managing the various CAD standards from different clients, he is very skilled in working to finalize the details of the systems designs with the many other building components including: structural systems, ceiling systems and general building construction details. His conscientious work in each design he is involved in is reflected in the final product of the building construction.

Technical systems Mr. Younger is experienced in include: mechanical, plumbing and electrical design; field work; CAD production; record drawings; HVAC calculations, lighting software and electrical load calculations.

CHRIS HILLMAN / Project Manager and Mechanical Designer

Chris Hillman has over 35 years of experience in the building construction and design industry. His background includes the technical aspects of a licensed tradesman with the overall perspective as both a general contractor and designer. His design experience includes integrating the many complex building systems while maintaining an eye on the big picture that’s necessary for delivering an efficient cost effective project.

Specialty expertise in winery design with hands-on experience designing and commissioning over 30 major winery projects and designing specialized mechanical equipment, process piping systems, HVACR systems plus DDC controls for dozens more allows Mr. Hillman the ability to quickly identify best strategies for the application. Clients include over 150 wineries throughout North America and counting.

Additionally he has worked as part of the design team on medical health care facilities for Jefferson Health Care – ASC, Seattle Children’s Hospital, and other local clinics. Also Chris has been responsible for planning – estimating, and project management on several school projects in the Bremerton, Central Kitsap and North Kitsap school districts involving HVAC, process piping and heat recovery. Other projects include commercial clients such as S&K Technologies, Mason County and Poulsbo Fire Station 71.

BRANDI HUNT / Office Manager and Accounting

Brandi Hunt works in collaboration with the Project Engineer of each project to track hours worked, expenses incurred, and budget to make sure projects are not only on time but at the cost agreed upon, insuring that your project is not only of the highest quality but at the cost you expected. She is the accounting department of Hunt Engineering so any question you may have on billing are easily addressed.
