K-12 and Educational Facility Experience
Hunt Engineering enjoys working on educational facilities, and helping improve our educational system. In addition to understanding the technical design requirements for the many mechanical and electrical systems used in schools, Hunt Engineering is experienced in providing prime consultant support for the preparation of public bid construction documents and the related construction administration needed to follow these projects through to completion. We can work as a prime consultant for mechanical, electrical or communications upgrades, or for projects of a broader scope as a subconsultant, supporting the architect for the mechanical and electrical system engineering. Hunt Engineering has provided engineering design services on numerous projects for several different school districts over the past 15 years. We work for Port Angeles School District and Highline School District on a regular basis.
North Olympic Occupational Skills Center Technology Building :
Mechanical & electrical engineering design for the new 8,200 square foot Industry Technology Building in 2004. This building included industrial arts shops for metals, woods and composites. It also included a computer lab. In 2009 and 2011 we engineered upgrades to support an expanded composites program adding a composite dust collection system, bench fume hoods and a clean air booth (for machining use with hand power tools). The composite lab currently provides a high level of training for the growing industry of composites in the Port Angeles area.
ERAC Electrical & Data Center Upgrade:
Prime Consultant and mechanical & electrical engineering design for the 50,000 square foot administrative offices building of the Highline School District. This project included the following key elements: phased replacement of the building main electrical service including the primary service, the upgrade of the 150 kW generator to a 300 kW unit with separate above ground diesel fuel storage tank. The data center portion of this project included the complete replacement of the power distribution system including the addition of a redundant centralized UPS systems and redundant distribution to the rack level, advanced smoke detection systems, and redundant cooling systems. Design was complete in 2013.
Roosevelt Middle School PASD:
Mechanical & electrical engineering design for this addition/renovation involving 30,000 square feet of remodel and 10,000 square feet of new building. This project included HVAC, power & lighting for a new gymnasium, 22 rooftop heat pumps for classrooms and science rooms and electrical service upgrades to a new 1,200 amp sub-main distribution switchboard. This project was design in 2004 and constructed in 2005.
Jackson Park Elementary School Constructability Review:
Working with Project Delivery Analysts, Hunt Engineering provided the mechanical and electrical constructability review for this new elementary school for the Central Kitsap School District. This review was completed in 2013.
Quilcene Middle School HVAC System Replacement:
Working with Ameresco, an energy services company, Hunt Engineering provided mechanical and electrical engineering for the replacement of seven rooftop units with high efficiency heatpumps. This project was completed in 2011.
