Healthcare Experience
Hunt Engineering understands that healthcare is a specialized field. We work closely with our clients to understand their needs and offer solutions. Additionally, when applicable, we coordinate with the multiple agencies which review and approve plans for healthcare projects. Specific and relative communications are started early in the design process and continued throughout the project. For existing facilities our design work takes into account infection control procedures, required phasing of work and the sensitive nature of the healthcare field. The examples listed below provide a good sample of the wide range of healthcare design work we provide:
Jefferson Healthcare, Hospital and Outpatient Facilities:
Hunt Engineering has provided multiple projects for Jefferson Healthcare, some of these projects include: Consulting on the hospital Laboratory HVAC system, Consulting for the hospital Surgery AHU system, New HVAC system for the Records department (2012), Sterilizer piping/pumping system, Medical gas system extension, Mechanical and electrical revisions to the commercial kitchen. Recently finished are the mechanical and electrical engineering design for newly licensed Ambulatory Surgical Center. For many of these projects we worked directly for the Hospital, for other projects like the Ambulatory Surgical Center we worked as a sub consultant to Coates Design.
Residential Treatment Facility, Port Angeles Washington:
Hunt Engineering provided full MEP services for this treatment facility. This project fulfilled a specific need for short term care that was greatly needed in the area. We worked closely with the owner and architect to meet the requirements for this state licensed facility. We also worked closely with the design team to keep the scope of the project within the functional program so the project could be constructed with the funds that were available. Hunt Engineering worked as a sub-consultant to Lindberg Smith on this project.
North Olympic Healthcare Network (NOHN) – Dental Clinic:
This 9,700 square foot facility was located in Port Angeles. Hunt Engineering provided electrical engineering services and creation of record drawings for the electrical design to support the Dental Clinic for the North Olympic Healthcare Network. Services included on site survey and electrical drawings for new alterations. (2018)
Olympic Medical Center:
Hunt Engineering provided mechanical and electrical design for revisions to the existing licensed clinic building to a Specialty/PT Clinic. The clinic was 2,810 square feet while the complete building with additional tenant was 9,425 square feet. Work was coordinated with InSight Healthcare Architecture. An additional project at this facility called for mechanical and civil design for revision of storm drain outfall damage. Hunt Engineering provided investigation and solution to damaged storm drain lines and run-off, partnering with Aspect Consultants. (2016)
Retina Clinic:
Hunt Engineering provided mechanical and electrical engineering for the new 3,400 square foot Retina Center located in Sequim, Washington. Working with Kenneth Hays Architects, Hunt Engineering provided design for permit and bid and construction administration support. (2016)
Kitsap County Recovery Center:
An existing work release building was remodeled for use as a licensed residential treatment facility operated by Kitsap Recovery Center. Phase I of this project included reviewing the proposed plans and the existing facility, reviewing relevant codes, and creating a schematic plan outlining the related mechanical and electrical design work. Phase II of this project including creating permit and construction documents for MEP, and design for 72 hours emergency operations. (2016)
Kitsap Mental Health:
Hunt Engineering provided a MEP systems Facility Assessment for the 5,800 square foot Kitsap Mental Health facility, Family of God Church, located in Bremerton, Washington. This assessment included a site review and recommendations for all MEP systems. (2018)
Extendicare, Skilled Nursing Facilities:
Hunt Engineering has provided engineering support on multiple projects in the Northwest for Extendicare, working both as a prime consultant for mechanical and electrical upgrades and as a sub-consultant supporting architectural projects. The scope of work for these projects included Mechanical System replacements, Power system upgrades, Life Safety Upgrades, Fire Sprinkler Systems, Training Kitchens, Physical Training and short term rehabilitation, offices and modifications to resident rooms. Hunt Engineering worked directly for Extendicare on many of these projects and as a sub-consultant to Coates Design on others.
Park View Villas, Assisted Living, Port Angeles, Washington:
Working with Lindberg Smith Architects, Hunt Engineering has designed several projects for Park View Villas. Our projects include: designing a commercial laundry facility with the special requirements for industrial washing and drying machines; an addition for a nursing office and exam room; enclosing a courtyard to provide a dayroom and adding a dinning space.
Data Centers supporting Electronic Medical Records:
See Data Centers for additional information on our Data Center design qualifications. Hunt Engineering has designed significant facilities for multiple clients.
MRT/ CTs and X-Ray:
Hunt Engineering has designed mechanical and electrical systems to support the complex requirements of these systems. Our familiarity with both medical facilities and data centers allows us to be very effective in the design, and coordination with the equipment supplier for these facilities.
